MTD Capital to sell buildings for RM175m
MTD Capital Bhd said it will sell both its MTD Building and Bangunan Shell Malaysia to its major shareholders for RM175 million to fund its highway project in Phillipines. MTD's wholly owned unit, MTD Properties Sdn Bhd, has agreed to sell MTD Building, a 14-storey office tower for RM70 million to Haluan Gigih Sdn Bhd (HGSB), a unit of Ally Consolidated Sdn Bhd, which in turn is MTD's major shareholder. It will also sell the 12-storey Bangunan Shell to HGSB for RM105 million. MTD Properties will be lease back the MTD Building as it is the group headquarters.

Quarrying
MTD's Quarrying Unit, Dimensi Timal Sdn Bhd (DTSB) signed a 50-year concession agreement with the Kelantan Darul Naim state government for the exclusive rights to undertake quarrying activities in Jedok, Tanah Merah, Kelantan. DTSB launched its operation in September 2005 with the debut of it "Jeli Blunero" series of dimensional granite. Click here for details.

East Coast Expressway Phase 2
MTD was awarded the contract to design and construct Package 10 of ECE2 in September 2006. The total length for Package 10 is 79 kilometers stretching from Bukit Besi Interchange at KM99.7 to Bukit Payung Interchange at KM163 with a distance of 63.3 KM, and branching off from the main line towards Federal Road 14 (Bukit Payung Spur Road) with a distance of 15.7 KM.

The work is expected to complete in December 2010.

SLEX, the Philippines’ most vital economic artery, has the highest, non-stop, vehicular traffic of any expressways in the country – over 250,000 vehicles per day, with an average 15% increase on holidays. About 18% and 20% of these are commuter buses, cargo and container trucks moving industrial goods and agricultural produce, and more than 60% of the country’s landed and export products to and from Luzon.
